Terms of Service
Last updated: 8/12/2026
1. Scope and parties
These Terms govern the use of the "Blackline AI" service (the "Service") operated by Ziller Beteiligungs UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Oppelner Str. 37, 10997 Berlin, Germany ("we" / "Provider"). The user's contractual counterparty is exclusively Ziller Beteiligungs UG (haftungsbeschränkt). By using the Service the user accepts these Terms. Conflicting terms of the user do not apply unless we expressly agree in writing.
2. Service description
The Service provides automated and manual redaction of sensitive data in PDF and image documents, plus features such as watermarks, watch folders (Enterprise only) and API integrations. Documents are processed primarily on the user's device; only extracted text is sent to an AI provider for detection (see Privacy Policy). Features may evolve over time; material reductions will be announced in advance.
3. Registration, account, conclusion of contract
The free quota can be used without registration. Paid plans and the day pass require a valid email address and where applicable billing details. The contract is concluded upon completion of the checkout. Users must provide accurate information, keep credentials confidential and notify us about any misuse without delay. The user warrants to be of legal age or otherwise entitled to enter into the contract.
4. Pricing, payment and payment providers
Prices shown on the pricing page at the time of order apply, including statutory VAT. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle also issues invoices and remits applicable taxes (VAT / Sales Tax). Purchases are additionally subject to Paddle's buyer terms (paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms). Subscriptions renew automatically for the chosen period until cancelled. The day pass is a one-off purchase without auto-renewal.
5. Withdrawal and refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can request a full refund within 30 days of your order date. Refunds are processed by our payment provider Paddle — please request via paddle.net or through our support. See our Refund Policy for details. Statutory consumer withdrawal rights and mandatory consumer protection rules remain unaffected.
6. User responsibilities
The user is solely responsible for (a) the contents of uploaded documents, (b) having the rights and consents required to process them and (c) fully reviewing every redaction before sharing the document. Users acknowledge that automated detection (AI/OCR) is inherently imperfect and does not replace human review. Export and any distribution of redacted documents are at the user's sole responsibility. Prohibited uses include processing of unlawful content, circumventing security measures, mass scraping, reverse engineering and automated attacks against the Service.
7. Warranty and liability
We provide the Service with reasonable care but cannot guarantee any specific detection rate or completeness. Our liability is limited to intent and gross negligence. For slight negligence we are only liable for breach of essential contractual obligations and only up to the typical, foreseeable damage, in any case capped at the fees paid in the preceding 12 months. Liability for indirect damages, loss of profits, loss of data or reputational damage is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Liability under the Product Liability Act and for injury to life, body or health remains unaffected.
8. Availability, maintenance and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, security and development work may cause temporary limitations. We may modify, add or discontinue features where reasonable for the user.
9. Term and cancellation
Subscriptions run for the agreed period (typically one month) and renew automatically unless cancelled in time. Cancellation is simple and exclusively digital via the cancel button in the user account or the self-service portal of the payment provider — fulfilling the "cancel button" requirement under § 312k BGB. Cancellation in text form to our contact address is also accepted. The right to extraordinary termination for good cause remains unaffected. We may suspend or terminate the contract for serious breaches, non-payment or misuse.
10. Data protection
We process personal data in line with the GDPR and our Privacy Policy. Document content is processed locally where technically feasible. Processors and sub-processors are listed in the Privacy Policy. For business customers we will, on request, conclude a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
11. Assignment / corporate succession
The Service is initially operated by the natural person named in the Imprint. We are entitled to transfer all rights and obligations arising from this contract to a company we incorporate or instruct (e.g. UG, GmbH, Ltd). Users will be informed in text form and may terminate the contract extraordinarily within 30 days if they object to the transfer. Transfer of rights and obligations by the user requires our prior consent.
12. Changes to the Terms
We may amend these Terms if necessary for legal, regulatory or product reasons. Users will be informed in text form at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Failure to object within this period constitutes acceptance; the notice will specifically point out the right to object and the consequences.
13. Final provisions
German law applies under exclusion of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of the user's country of residence within the EU remain unaffected. For merchants, place of jurisdiction is the Provider's seat. The EU online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected.
